Nineteen people attended an enjoyable poetry workshop with poetry expert Prof Bernard Odendaal at the Afrikaans Language Museum and Monument (ATM) last month. Thanks to the ATKV-Skryfskool of the North-West University and the LW Hiemstra Trust’s support, the ATM was able to identify ten learners from three local high schools to attend the workshop free of charge, in honour of Youth Day 2019. Various aspects of poetry were discussed and there was also a practical section in which participants’ poems were improved.
