VACANCY: COMMUNICATION OFFICER
(9 months contract appointment)

The Afrikaanse Taalmuseum en -monument (ATM) invites suitable candidates to apply for the position as Communication Officer. Appointment date: 3 July 2017

Requirements:
• A postgraduate qualification in Afrikaans and/or Journalism • Excellent language skills in Afrikaans and English • Experience in public relations, marketing and social media • Experience in language editing, proofreading and translation • Knowledge of basic graphic design and website editing
• Contactable references

Responsibilities:
• Execution of the public relations management plan in conjunction with the Director • Liaising with the media and relevant specialists • Handling media enquiries  • Marketing of the ATM’s activities and events, including the writing, translation and distribution of media releases; the placement of notices, photos and advertisements in the media; the updating of the ATM’s website and social media platforms; and the design/layout and distribution of advertisements, brochures and information documents • Compiling funding/sponsorship applications • Language editing of official documents
