In honour of Women’s Month, the Afrikaans Language Museum and Monument (ATM) will sponsor a meal, entertainment, gifts and visit to the iconic monument on Paarl Mountain for 60 women farm workers this coming Friday, 30 August 2019. The women from a farm in Groenberg outside Wellington will be spoiled with lunch at the Historium in town where they will be addressed by Beverley Farmer, owner of Women in Wine. Farmer’s company – the first entirely female-owned and managed wine producer, plays a major role in improving working conditions, skills and recognition for women in the wine industry. The visitors will also be entertained by a poet during the event and receive gifts, after which they will undertake a guided tour at the Taalmonument on Paarl Mountain. www.taalmonument.co.za
