Concert again lures various talented bands
Thanks to last year’s much-talked-about success, the Taalmonument and Shining Stars are hosting another exciting evening with the Boland’s singing stars this year, so make a note today to head out to Paarl on Saturday, 30 November 2019. Old and young will experience the Christmas spirit once again thanks to the choirs’ and orchestras’ incredible interpretations of well-known and lesser-known Christmas songs.

The famous Paarl talent, Marco Mentoor, and his band are also on this stage for the first time this year to provide the other groups with background music. Mentoor – a pianist, composer and producer – has performed with Jonathan Butler, Donnie McClurkin, Dr Victor & the Rasta Rebels, Elvis Blue and Jimmy Dludlu, among others. He is best known for his incredible gospel music, which means the other groups – Shining Stars, Winelands Chamber Choir, Paarl Valley Eisteddfod, Idas Valley String Band, Paul Roos Boys Choir and Sinc4 – will impress guests with even more celestial sounds. In addition, all the choirs will also perform together to present two items.

“The main purpose is to emphasise the birth of Jesus through song and music,” says the Afrikaans Language Museum and Monument director, Michael Jonas. “It will also provide an opportunity for participants to take hands and act as participants in larger groups. It’s truly a privilege to offer such an opportunity, so we hope that as many people from the widest background possible will share a wonderful summer evening in this beautiful setting.” As the show commences at 19:00 in the Garden Theatre, guests will not only be overwhelmed by the music, but also experience a stunning sunset. Gates open at 17:00.

Tickets, which are expected to sell out quickly, are available at Computicket and the participating groups themselves at R100 for adults and R50 for children from 3 to 13 years old.
