To relieve the pressure on him, Father Christmas has again decided to hand out presents during a full moon picnic at the iconic Afrikaans Language Monument on Saturday, 18 December 2021.
A beautiful evening with children’s entertainment, playgrounds and outdoor games for the young ones, as well as a sunset followed by a full moon, promises to transform the day into an unforgettable event. Guests are encouraged to explore the area and, because the picnic series is also offered in aid of ‘Let’s Read!’, The Language Monument’s literacy project for children, visitors are encouraged to donate a new or used children’s book.
Guests are welcome to bring their own picnic baskets and drinks (no glass). Dress warmly and bring a flash light as well as a mask. See taalmuseum.co.za/covid-19/ for the specific protocols. Ample secure parking is available.
Admission is only R40 per adult, R10 per pensioner/student, R5 per child and free for under-6s. Tickets are available at Computicket and, if there are any left, at the gate on the day itself from 16:00. The entertainment start at 17:00 and Santa should make his appearance at 19:00 to hand out presents, so parents should please deliver their children’s clearly marked gifts by 18:00 in his Christmas stocking in the Visitor Centre. This popular annual event will last until 22:00.
