NO MASK, NO ENTRY
The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture  has given permission to the Afrikaans Language Museum and Monument to reopen to the public from 1 October 2020. Until further notice the government protocols, such as measuring visitors’ temperatures and maintaining physical distances, will apply at the monument and in the museum. A basic questionnaire will have to be answered, but those who want to save time can download it here, complete it and bring it along.

No guided tours will be offered, but visitors can read the information brochures or make use of the comprehensive audio guides (available in six languages). They will be disinfected regularly and thoroughly. The Taalmonument is open every day from 08:00 to 16:45 – the last entrance is at 16:15 – and a mobile coffee shop (Oppi Berg Mobile Café 060 382 9938) will have food and drinks available. The longer opening hours that usually apply in the summer will not be able to happen for the time being, but see our website and FB page regarding our summer programme that will take shape.

The Taalmuseum in the centre of town is open on weekdays from 08:00 to 16:45 – advance booking is essential if more than 10 people want to visit it at a time.

Until 31 March 2021 the Taalmonument offers free entry to children under 18 and a 20%-discount on new annual permits, while all current annual permits are automatically extended by six months. For more information, see www.taalmuseum.co.za/taalmonument-visitor-information/
